Being in petro-chemical operations for 25 years and witnessing a series of preventable on the job accidents, I became interested in Occupational Health and Safety. I have enhanced my experience during this time through riding with 911 services and continue to expand my knowledge and skills. Fourteen years later I'm now a Licensed Paramedic, Texas Department of Health Instructor/Examiner, affiliate faculty for San Jacinto College North, and as of this writing the chairman for Operation Heartbeat with the American Heart Association. So many times I've arrived at an accident and found family members or co-workers who were unable to assist the injured party. This is due mostly from not knowing what to do in an emergency. My philosophy is simple, it's better to know it and not need it than to need it and not know it.
